The boiler had reached its end of life and required a new installation. As the lid on the the left of the image shows: numerous referrals were made by PH Jones.
The act of removing the lid also acted upon the excess wire pushing it in and out of the main chamber.
Virtually impossible to light without spending hours trying; disturbance to the wire would decompress the chamber and the unit would cut out.
